Civil Service Commission

The City of Watertown Civil Service Commission performs legislative, executive, and judicial functions:

  • legislative when establishing rules having the force and effect of law
  • executive when administering the merit system, determining general policy, and establishing internal procedures
  • judicial when considering and resolving appeals of Civil Service Law

The Civil Service Commission serves the City of Watertown, Watertown City School District, Flower Memorial Library and Watertown Housing Authority. A full-time Executive Secretary works under the direction of the Civil Service Commission and their goal is to assist appointing authorities and department heads in the recruitment and selection of employees dedicated to providing essential services to the citizens of the City of Watertown.  

Term of Member: Six-year term appointed by the City Manager

Meetings are typically held on the third Tuesday of each month at 12:30 p.m. in City Hall unless there is a scheduling conflict.
