The Development Authority of the North Country (DANC) is a New York State chartered public benefit corporation, created in 1985. Its service area is Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties and it was created to address the infrastructure and community development needs of the region.
The City Council appoints two members of the community to represent the City of Watertown. DANC has a thirteen member board of directors: Five non-voting members are appointed by New York State and eight voting members are appointed by Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence Counties, and the City of Watertown.
