Downtown Arboretum

The Downtown Arboretum was developed by the City’s Urban Forestry Advisory Board, which is called Tree Watertown, as a way to show residents and visitors the unique variety of tree species that are located within the 200 Block of Washington Street and Downtown area. Over 30 different varieties and species of trees have been identified in this area.

The Arboretum can serve as an educational resource for school children, community groups and residents. A map of the arboretum can be found below, along with a narrative that describes each tree. The various trees are shown on the map and are listed by botanical name and common name in the tree legend. The numbers in the tree legend on the map correspond to the numbers in the narrative. The tour begins on the grounds of the Jefferson County Historical Society located at 228 Washington Street.
