Who do I talk to about repairing my sidewalk?

Sidewalk repairs and replacements are the responsibility of the property owner within city limits. Sidewalk permits are necessary, but are of no cost. Property owners can do the work themselves or hire a contractor to do any repairs or replacements of sidewalks.

Do I need a permit to install a new driveway?

Yes! You will need a "curb cut" permit from the Engineering Department.

Deck, Fence, Pool, Shed, Porch Questions
Adding a structure to your property in the City of Watertown.
Who do I contact regarding a Fence / Deck

When requesting to install a fence or deck on your property with in the City of Watertown:


No person, firm or corporation shall commence the erection, construction, or alteration of any fence without first applying for, and obtaining, a fence permit from Code personnel for each such fence.

the Bureau of Code Enforcement to obtain a permit (315) 785-7735

Who do I contact regarding a Pool

When requesting to install a pool on your property within the City of Watertown:

A  Zoning Compliance Certificate must be completed and filed with the City Planning Department. https://www.watertown-ny.gov/media/PlanningZoning/ApplicationForms/Zoning%20Compliance%20Certificate%20Application.pdf
