FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BOIL WATER NOTICE UPDATE #1
The City of Watertown and the following municipalities that receive water from the City must continue to boil their water before use.
• City of Watertown
• Town of Watertown
• Southside Water
• Town of Pamelia
• Any active connections to the above list
The boil water notice remains in effect until further notice. Water treatment staff are working around the clock to mitigate the impacts of the runoff caused by last week’s excessive rain and snow melt. Once
conditions improve and the system returns to compliance, the NYS DOH will direct the City’s actions to lift the boil water notice. Until this occurs the boil water notice will remain in effect. The Town of
LeRay is not receiving water from the City of Watertown, and the boil water advisory does not include Town of LeRay residents.
As a reminder:
• Bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and washing food, or use bottled water.
• Discontinue using tap water for ice, mixing drinks, auto-fill coffee makers and water dispensers that use tap water.
• While showering during a boil-water advisory is acceptable, you must be extremely careful not to swallow, ingest, or get water in your eyes, nose, or open wounds. Take extra precautions with children and immunocompromised individuals, using boiled water for sponge baths or minimizing shower time.
• Wash dishes in boiled water, or use a dishwasher with a hot cycle.
