City of Watertown Addresses Water Main Leak Near Delano Island
While conducting a required inspection of the City’s dam adjacent to Delano Island just off Eastern Boulevard (SR 3), the Water Department discovered a significant leak in the water main that provides water to the Water Treatment Facility. For a short period of time, water stopped flowing into the Treatment Facility. Water flow to the facility is slightly degraded, but we continue to meet the water needs of our residents and customers.
Our team quickly responded to slow the leak and made the necessary adjustments to ensure water flow to the treatment plant was restored and sustained. We will keep our residents and customers informed should we encounter future challenges.
The City staff is working with the New York State Department of Health and the Development Authority of the North Country to develop options for the repair of the water main.
