Under the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC, https://www.ferc.gov/) project license in place April 15, 1997, the Marble Street Hydroelectric Facility in the City of Watertown follows a Water Release Plan.
The Facility performs releases to facilitate whitewater boating from June 1st and September 30th. These occur on Tuesday and Thursday each week between 6:00 and 8:00 PM.

The first five weeks of the 2025 season are scheduled as follows.These scheduled discharges are contingent upon river conditions.

Note: discharge rate is measured at the Hydroelectric Facility.
The City intends to use these releases to determine if the Route 3 Wave is usable for surfing in the range.
